amazing animals

the buck I shot I know of a person who got a picture of him and his bachelor group 2.5 miles away in late August he disappeared from my camera in late August

That’s why you were fortunate he liked your spot and gave you an opportunity .

mature bucks move many times each season .

lots of times guys think they pushed a buck out , when one disappears.

but nature has them coming and going different places all year .

can be in our spot for days or months at a time .

The bucks you shoot on your property were not born there. The does and fawns -yes. A juvenile buck has to disperse to prevent inbreeding. And that could be anywhere from three miles to who knows how far.

This is obviously true with one exception,  if the juvenile bucks mother is killed, he may not disperse.
The females typically  drive the young bucks out of the area for the reasons mentioned in the article.
They may disperse anyway while searching for females during the rut if there is a lack of females in his home range, but they may stay if not pushed out.
That’s why you see skewed sex ratios (more males then females) in areas where more female deer are killed.
