Me too because of the coloring on the inside and the bark not having the diamond shaped ridges

I was only sent the pictures. What would give it away with a saw to it ?

Looks like good firewood to me, we have so many dead ASH TREES on the property they are rotting before we can get to them.

Poplar is not very dense and cuts like warm butter. Ash is  more of a medium hardwood and takes more effort for the saw to run through.

if you cut poplar open it would have a greenish purple color to it. 

poplar is great firewood for starting your fire  but anything after that it just burns way to fast and doesnt put out the BTUs like other hardwoods will

Tulip/yellow poplar. It’s one of many species that will take over as we lose the remaining ash trees. Great for window sashes and trim boards. Nice and straight with few knots.  Not a great firewood, but far better than pine.

And if you sell any select harvest poplar trees here in NJ, chances are near 100% they wind up as Anderson Window window sashes. A mill in PA buys them to mill and sell to Anderson.
