Hanging deer in this weather

Got one yesterday at last light so couldn’t get it to the butcher.  Any issue if it’s frozen solid when I bring it to the butcher?    Does it matter how long it’s frozen before it’s brought to butcher?

Should be fine.  They'll let it thaw and then process.

The deer in the pic is one I shot many years ago and it was cold like this. I hung it overnight and it was solid in a day.  The butcher wouldn’t take it and I haven’t been to a butcher since.

If it freezes solid on you it will take a long time in the butchers walk in to thaw enough to cut it up. IDK but I would think some butchers would squawk about it.

I butcher my own and a few years back during one of those long cold winters I had one hang in the shed for nearly 2 months because it was frozen solid.

Its a PITA for the butcher. If he hangs it in the cooler he has to work around it for days. However, it may not be a big problem now with fewer deer brought in.

I would think now it shouldn’t matter.  It’s not really a prime time for them so I’d imagine they would take any work they can get.

I also butcher my own and Have a doe-cical hanging in the garage now. Looks like she gets to cure that much longer.
