Disease testing of venison

When I get a deer at the property I hunt I give the owner some venison. Recently he heard of diseases in deer that may transfer to humans if eaten.  I’m not sure where he heard this.  Anyway, he wants the meat tested for diseases. I spent a few hours on google and read up from nj division of fish and wildlife’s info regarding different diseases.  Of course, nothing is listed about dangers to humans.   I plan on printing out a lot of the info and sharing it with the property owner, but to better appease him is there anyone who knows if there is a place to contact to send a sample to for testing?

sounds like he just wants to know what's going on in his environment and wants you to do the leg work.

Yeah. If there is something reasonably priced to submit I’ll do it since he lets me hunt there.  Shot in the dark but wth.

Why not call Fish and Wildlife and see what they say? Might have more info than their site?

FWIW, regarding CWD from back in 2002 (things may have changed since then?)

I don't know of anyone getting sick from venison. This maybe the best info you can share with him

I agree with the above. Coming from Europe I know hunters there have to get the deer/boar inspected before someone else is allowed to consume it. Maybe someone gave him the idea coming from that background?

Just let him know if that were the case there would be no hunters because we would all be dead..lmao
