Development is the biggest destroyer of all history.

Development came AFTER the damage caused by the plow already occurred. The first fields and areas farmed by Europeans were those that were already Native  settlements to begin with. The plow broke and scattered all evidence.

Making up a couple more boxes.  My grandfather on my mother's side also collected some heads, mostly bought from around the country for 10-75 cents back then.  He had a handful that were unmarked, so I'm guessing he found those since a couple were broken.  One came from Warren co and one from Bergen co.  First box I think were all ones he bought.  Second box are more from my father's collection down to the wampum beads.  Beads and below are more of my grandfathers.

Thanks for sharing graybeard.

Some people will make artifacts and try to pass them off as real. Not saying this as a fact but a couple of the points look like they could been faked. The different color of the one in the pick below looks like it was napped at two different times?

Agree with you about fakes.  Photo doesn't show true color.  This was one of the undocumented heads from my grandfather, 70-80 years ago maybe older.  Not sure if they faked them back then for 10 cents.  Closeup shows lines on the side you saw, but they don't deviate when crossing ridges so probably in the rock and not from a tool.  Many heads are multi colored from other stone that they are sandwiched with in nature.  I know where there are veins of flint attached to sandstone and other types of rock.

Still kinda looks fake to me graybeard. Another trick some people do is to nap a broken point into a whole one adding to its value.
