Ms Grit
Makes me nervous walking in there at this point. Fairly confident there are 5-6 mature bears and 1 with 4 cubs visiting regularly. 3Blade, Buck154, not on the rug and 2 others 5 "Well Behaved Women Seldom Make History" - Laurel Thatcher Ulrich NJ State Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs MemberNRA Life Member NWTF Women In The Outdoors Member UBNJ Member

Haskell_Hunter
This is great! Not only are you attracting today's bears, but they are training the cubs to return to your spot! This should be a good producing site for generations. Love the markers on the trees, I assume they are there to calibrate heights and such. Sapere aude. Audeamus. When you cannot measure, your knowledge is meager and unsatisfactory.
Buck154
Nice. 3 barrels,,,, Ms Grit you are crazy in love with bear hunting . Good luck on another monster. Is that the same spot but 2 different camera angles? Edited August 7, 2017 by Buck154
Greybeard
Good pics! Was going to ask the same thing haskel did about the markers. If you keep talking on your way in, sooner or later they will hear you as the pied piper, and come running in before you can get out. Mace wouldn't be a bad idea. Is that the same spot but 2 different camera angles? I'm really not that obsessed. The other 2 barrels need to be removed but haven't been yet. And yes on the camera question. I actually have 3 there. The other takes video. LittleM
You could actually probably train them. Ring a bell or blow a whistle every time you bait - just wait until you are walking out. Then, on the day you hunt, get set up and ring the bell/blow the whistle. I actually trained a pair of barred owls to come to live mice this exact way, as part of a telemetry project I worked on. I was going to try it last season for bear, but I didn't bait regularly. Edited August 7, 2017 by LittleM

I do carry a small can of spray attached to my hip. Would really prefer to get a quad and a trailer, but having just bought a new truck, I don't think that is in this years budget.
