I've eaten squirrels, woodchucks, muskrats, even tried raccoon (once). I never thought to eat their brains. Seems like a lot of work to get at something the size of a corn kernel. RIP fella.

Sad to see.

May have just gotten spinal fluid on the knife when cutting head off and infected the meat.  Makes you wonder just how safe it is to eat meat that may be from any animal infected with prions.

His family reported that he ate squirrel brains. That’s different than getting spinal fluid on a knife. Must have been a thing with him.

I was going by these statements... could have been because of either, the way I read it.
