I use dental bands to stop them from opening in flight. The blades are pretty flimsy. But, you can get a 4 pack for less than $30 on Amazon so just toss them out. 

I haven’t had any issues with them opening with the bow or the crossbow ones. I don’t think the blades are flimsy at all. Ones I’ve recovered have been in pretty good shape
