Ladybird, another friend and I have a group we call TeamMother Shuckers. We take small groups out of IBSP every few weeks during the summer. Our next event is August 3, 2023. You can sign up on the FB New Jersey Clamming page if you’re interested in joining us. All are welcome, but you do need a kayak.

From the FB page …

Donna, PJ & Robin of TeamMotherShuckers are planning our THIRD Clamming Adventure for the Summer of 2023 on Thursday, August 3, 2023. We will be leaving from the 2nd Kayak Launch, lot 21, at IBSP between 7-7:15 am. All are welcome to join along. This is the THIRD "Event" we will be hosting for this season, so if you've wanted to join us in the past or were sitting on the fence, NOW is the time to JUST DO IT !!! We are not experts, but know how to enjoy ourselves and have no probem sharing our knowledge with others. What you need . . . a shellfish license (We Strongly Suggest You Keep A Copy On Your Person AT ALL TIMES in an Airtight Bag as NJ is one of the few states that does NOT accept your license on your cell phone), a kayak or way to cross the channel (one of us struggled with a blow up previously so we recommend a kayak), http://yakskayakrental.com/ is available for kayak rentals for those attending this event, but you must must be able to transport the kayak yourself (just tell them you are attending this event), water shoes, a rake or means to dig clams with a measurement device to make sure smaller clams are legal size (could just be 2 marks on your rake pole 1 1/2 inches apart) , a floating bucket or mesh bag (We use both) for keeping your clams in, a cooler for bringing your clams home in, drinking water . . . optional convenience items you might like to bring . . . snacks, beverages, music, your cell phone in a waterproof case, sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, a towel and change of clothes for after you have finished clamming . . . Please remember that all need a shellfish license, including children and that any clams eaten while you are clamming are part of your 150 daily limit . . . for those who clammed with us previously, please wear your pink hats . . . We haven't checked the tide for this day yet, but we never let tide stop us from having a good time and enjoying the outdoors with friends.
NEW FOR THIS YEAR . . . We have created a basic Cafe Press Store https://www.cafepress.com/TeamMotherShuckers where we are selling Team Mother Shucker Items.  ALL of the profits from this store will be donated to Reclam the Bay in Toms River, NJ.
