I did , and if they were still around probably still would  .

I do have a few of each style left :hmmmer:

we also used to take Anderson blades , grind off the back corner of the blade so they fit into the Thunderhead ring .

made our own 1 3/4” heads called Thundersons lol

Off the charts  for me I never went heavier than 2117.

I used 2117 till the Superlites came out then I switched to 2314.

Which many of us did , and is opposite of gaining penetration .

larger shafts have more surface area and slow an arrow down sooner .

2117 was a great all around shaft , very durable

I was less educated at the time.

Yes, 2314 has larger radius, thinner wall, less weight. It was a trade off. As long as the shaft is the same width or smaller than the broadhead ferrule you are good. Never had issues with penetration. Maybe just 3" inches into the ground after pass thru instead of 4.

I will just say of course it makes sense, but only if the mechanical is a good design and of top quality. The original rage 2 blade were crap as you know and would open in flight, or deflect, or in some cases not open at all. There is absolutely nothing wrong with any quality 1 1/8” fixed 3 blade BH though.  It’s a proven design by many top manufacturers and it still comes down to shot placement and confidence in your setup.

Here's the first great idea, made by Browning. No one will ever invent a better penetrating  broadhead then the second one.

The Browning Serpentine was similar to the Toxic Head. You will see through the years that certain BH designs go out and come back years later.

I don’t understand on constantly trying new broadheads?? Why risk an animal just to try em out? If u have a combo that works for you stick with it.

Lots different bow set ups, compound and stick bows , crossbow set ups .

lots of great equipment that all gets the job done .

not looking at other options is narrow minded .

lots of great stuff has come out in the last 48 seasons I have hunted

none of those combos isn’t going to get the job done , but may do it slightly different .

you only fish 1 lure ?
