Union County had their crossbow hunt and harvested 270 deer at $43 a deer. The county pays for corn and the butchering.

If it cost $85.00 to butcher a deer how is that possible:hmmmer: Controlled hunts  usually cost the hunter more than that in application fees:banghead:

UNION COUNTY * The agents will be responsible for the cost of licenses and permits, insurance, personal equipment, shotgun ammunition and crossbow bolts, and the butchering of deer kept by them in the Shotgun and Archery Components.

Hunters get screwed for donating their time to most management hunts, this hunt the county  pays for donated deer but the hunter has to pay if he wants to keep one for the table and we are saving them $300.00 a deer by not having white buffalo come in...go figure

Sharp shooters cost way to much. The Chief is making a mistake I hope this does not happen.

I don't think that is what they were saying.

The hunters didn't pay a fee. They only needed to be properly licensed and follow the rules.  The $43 per deer is what the program cost the County and included the cost of corn and butchering.  If the hunter chooses to keep the deer they have to pay to butcher.

All of the details The at the... 2020-2021 guidelines link at the bottom of this page...

Understood, I was figuring  they paid for butchering every deer that was harvested but they screwed the hunters by making them pay for the ones they kept  thats why it only comes out to $43.00 per deer

Been doing this for years from the county that I came from. Not paid Sharp shooters per se, no cost to the Hunter..(Leo)

Yeper👍

Decades ago Millburn hired sharpshooters, cost a ton of money and it was a flop.

Here's a better view (Essex county model).of deer cull Hunt's  in no discharge urban areas.

Could not care less....sorry to anyone who bow hunts Fargo on here (nobody). Who gives a S$÷#? What does Fargo have to do w NJ Hunting??

It’s always a good idea to keep an eye on any news/trends occurring outside our home state to be prepared for any BS like this that may happen here

NJ is usually ground zero for BS shenanigans/paying sharpshooters like this…not very rural Fargo, ND…

so it’s important for the hunter brotherhood to be aware of national news/trends affecting the our passion of hunting.
