Advice on Atlantic City

Park your car in a safe place, walk the boardwalk, hit lunch at one of the boardwalk establishments/Hard Rock cafe, back in car and hit the parkway.

There is a bass pro shop, but no big deal. Some outlets and Steak house near Bass Pro Shop. Free Parking if you buy an item at Bass Pro.

The Boardwalk is real cool. Look for Mr. Peanut. Watch out for carriage hustlers/push carts. No more Diving Horse on Steel Pier. I was one of the last to see the Horse dive into a tank on the old Steel Pier. Chris Christie could have been a star if rode the house off the Pier.

South of Boardwalk in Margate you can see Lucy the Elephant. Good Bars by Lucy. Some of the Casinos are interesting.

It's nice to see the ocean once or twice each year.

The Beach at Wildwood is huge.....Believe me. It's one on the largest beaches in the world. Get down to Cape May. Cape May is a real gem!!!! If you do get to AC, you will be walking the Boards of Enoch Johnson.....Boardwalk Empire.

Yeah you're so right, we go to Wildwood and Cape May at least every other year, the beach is huge.  We're staying at Wildwood for 5 days then doing a short stop at AC on the way home just to check it out.

If you like small zoos, the cape may zoo located in Middle Twp. It's is a good one with some interesting reptiles. Great for little kids. Wildwood has some wild bars and Moreys Pier has some improved rides. Have fun and give Ocean City a wave! That's our hang out? Donald shows up on 19 Street and tweets.

Guy Fieri has a BBQ joint in Wild Wild West. His pulled pork is pretty good. Its more of a take out place though. Harrys seafood in Ballys is always good. The spa in Harrahs is really nice. A couples massage is always relaxing. Prices are much cheaper on the weekdays.

Yeah, we love the zoo and have been there many times.

We walk the boardwalk from end to end most nights.

I prefer Ocean City but if you are dead set on AC, I would stay down towards the Tropicana, it's a bit nicer. You have the Quarter at Tropicana which is pretty nice. The Pier, I think they call it Playground now, is nice, but usually pretty empty. Someone mentioned the water show at the end of the Pier but I think they shut that down. There are some good restaurants there, depends on what you want to eat. The Rainforest is okay, not fine dining but a neat experience if you've never been. I really wasn't impressed with Guy's BBQ joint or Whitehouse subs but some are. There is a lot to do there. I would skip Bass Pro, you can see that anywhere.

The north end, toward Resorts and Steel Pier is not as nice but you do have a few beach bars, including the Landshark and you could go to Margaritaville, sit out on the boardwalk with some of their famous nachos and a margarita, and people watch, that's fun. Steel Pier is actually crap, don't waste your time.

AC has some very good, off the beach, authentic eateries away from the glitz and glamour...you get to see "the real" Atlantic City. If you want that experience, PM me, I worked down there for years and can help you.

If you want some places like Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, or the Melting Pot and the outlets, The Walk isn't too bad, right next to Bass Pro.

My wife and I went over there about a month or so ago and had dinner at Gordon Ramsay Pub and Grill in Caesars. Food was pretty good but very pricey, as you'd expect. It was a Thursday evening, we walked the Pier and the boardwalk a bit and the thing that struck me most was how empty everything was. All that extravagant, expensive stuff and no one there enjoying it.

You can experience just about anything there, it depends on what you want.

We've never been to Atlantic City .....

You should stop right there and leave well enough alone. That's like saying I never took a 95mph fastball to the nuts and I want to experience it...

I really don't understand the negative comments. The beach and boardwalk by the Tropicana are really nice. The other side of the boardwalk, a few miles down, still have some run down looking junk shops, only "negative" thing I can say. The restaurants, shows, arcades, stores, historic restaurants from the time of boardwalk empire. Salt water tafy factory tour, ect. The boardwalk at night has multi media light shows. People just like to say negative things that are not true. Yes, it was a dump 30 years ago.
