2024 Saltwater Fishing Regulations

Anyone have any news on any updates coming this year?

I hear 60% reduction for commercial and 40% reduction for recreational  for fluke

We are getting between  a 28-40 percent cut on fluke for 2024 and 2025

sea bass will remain close to what it’s been 

scup are getting a slight increase

Says we over fished 2022 and 2023 

‘and spawning biomass isn’t high enough to continue those regs .

says new regs imposed will be for 2024 and 2025

No specifics yet , but we are looking at a minimum 28% cut back , up to a possible 40%

 

hopefully a majority is season length .

would be nice to see a split season . Early start rivers and bays, with early end date .

later ocean start with a later date , but instead of doing what’ best , it will be what’s easiest

I wouldn’t mind a shorter season but you’re right they’ll do what’s easiest. Keep us updated if you hear anymore information please

Just looking back at previous year note I did way better on keeper to throw back ratio in bay than ocean. Late season in ocean was highest ratio

I do also . Gets you in the bays and rivers earlier as well as extends the ocean fishery some .

BUT IMO both are way better options than the slot has been for the last 2 years .

I’m good with either, the slot was a great idea they just implemented incorrectly

Need to synchronize season dates and limits with entire Raritan bay NY waters from Hoboken  to Rockaway point to Sandy Hook point.   Same dates and limits across the board. Should be able to launch from either side and fish either side with same rules and regulations and not have to worry about crossing the line with wrong size fluke. It is just beyond stupid and unfare.
