Need to synchronize season dates and limits with entire Raritan bay NY waters from Hoboken  to Rockaway point to Sandy Hook point.   Same dates and limits across the board. Should be able to launch from either side and fish either side with same rules and regulations and not have to worry about crossing the line with wrong size fluke. It is just beyond stupid and unfare.

They won’t do that because Ny bag limits are based more on their fishery east of the bay .…

and also IF they did so fir one species , what about all the rest ?

You willing to lose a month a prime striper fishing ?

I wouldn’t mind a shorter season but you’re right they’ll do what’s easiest. Keep us updated if you hear anymore information please

Being able to catch a smaller legal size fluke was good .

The entire way they set the slot was stupid on all accounts .

everything about it hurt us , way more than we gained .

common bays and rivers between two states  should have common season dates and regs - apart from the rest of their waters.    PA and NJ unify on shad regulations - it cannot be that difficult to manage Raritan Bay as it's own fishery. Of course I would want identical/reciprical Striped Bass regs as well.

Nothing spooks deer more than my stank…

So when Ny is closed and you can’t target stripers you would lose a month of a great fishery

The two states need to compromise and come up with common regs, and you can still fish NY waters when NY is closed just don't possess any fish.  Striped Bass is pretty much 90% C&R anway with the new slot

I disagree , because it limits you fishing in other local NY /Nj waters .

if they made the bay different than Oceanside , it prohibits you from fishing Oceanside , and then going back to port in the bay .

Ny fluke regs have always been stricter than ours have .

IF.  You had to follow their regs through the years , you would have probably quit fluke fishing a decade ago

You absolutely don’t know the rules . You can NOT target striped bass in NY waters during the closed season .

sure guys do it until NYFG boards their boats

NJ bay fishing open March 1

Ny season doesn’t open until 4/15

i was once on an early april charter and they said " do you want action or keep a few fish - we chose action and fished over the line by a bit..."

Maybe we were trying for bluefish and those pesky bass kept biting?

Guys do it until they see enforcement coming . No different than guys who pass the 3 mile line Oceanside .

But it is a rule they do try and enforce ..

‘some areas back bay get away with a little more .
