BowhunterNJ
I've always measured by volume, but felt like by weight would be more accurate. Interestingly, looking at the BH209 site, it says to measure by volume and NOT by weight (like most BP and BP substitutes). electric10162 and nmc02

Gobblengrunt
Always “weighed” by volume. Ive always filled my measuring tube, a couple taps on the table to settle the powder, then fill to exact volume. My most accurate process electricstart, tcook8296 and BowhunterNJ

nmc02
I recently bought a scale to weigh bh209. I have had zero problems using the bh209 charge tubes. When I spoke to BH Reps, they also told me that measuring was unnecessary unless I was shooting in bench rest competitions. However, a few reloaders said why wouldn't you weigh for perfect consistency. So, just bought a scale. May weigh out all mine. Have not decided.... the truth

If they fill the sane way then there is no point to weighing. That’s what I discovered electricstart

MGHunter66
I simply don’t understand the resistance to weigh. It’s more accurate and faster. You weigh in a couple seconds and throw in the tube. By volume you add, tap, eyeball and either add more get rid of some tap and eyball. Makes no friggin sense to me Ron and the truth 2 AWM

If you run out of already set up tubs you have to take out your scale afield. on the other hand what’s the true benefit? It is faster?? No way, there are more steps for sure. 1. set up scale 2. fill the container on scale with powder 3. Fill your quick loader/tube when doing it the other way you start at

electricstart
Next time I will fill the tube tap and settle. I will weigh and see how accurate I am. Not sure it would make a huge difference at range.

Not sure it would make a huge difference at range. Just weight 3, put in tubes then look at tubes by eye. Tells the tale instantly. MGHunter66
Bottom line is it is essentially black powder so small deviations aren’t a huge deal and won’t effect pressures like shotgun or rifle powder but if you want to be truly consistent weight is the way to go AWM
