The excitement of Buck154’s recent upgrade got me thinking….

I have a 90 HP Merc Optimax on my 2006 basstracker and N & B Marine in Bordentown just put fuel pump in….I have owned it for 8 yrs n never used the OB. Mechanic said the computer indicated only 3 hrs on it!

So now that it’s running and since I probably won’t use it much on the basstracker….I’m in the market for a retirement self-gift BW Montauk-hull only.  I saw a 1979 in Massachusetts for $5000!!  That’s about my budget…but for a 1979??!!  Talk bout retaining value!!

Adam in your search don’t overlook Mckee. They’re basically the same as a whaler with a sharper bow to cut waves. It also keeps the boat sideways in a drift compared to flatter front skiffs that turn and drift bow first from the wind. I have one and it’s a bay drifters dream

They have a ton of room to fish

Yes, the model is called a 17’ Offshore Fisherman. Built like a tank.

Yes cheaper and my belief as many followers… better than a Whaler. Foam filled and unsinkable with fiberglass so thick it’s unreal. They were tested for and survived the helicopter drop test as a coast guard/police vessel.
