Ruffed Grouse in Hunterdon County?

I would swear I was watching a grouse from my stand in Morris County last year

Last one I saw in Hunterdon County was near Ringoes in about 1978.

It is sad indeed.    For you die hard grouse hunters, go to Maine, they are everywhere in the Northwoods.    Last time I was up there counted over 50 in a weeks

Saw one in the Gap last year. Pretty cool. Usually only see them in the Adirondacks.

We need logging. Our forests average about 60 years old and grouse need trees much younger than that.

Never forget the Mountain Rest Tavern!  We used to shoot at the range and then go to the bar with our fathers. Dad would let us eat chili and drink near beer while he and the other dads tossed back a cold Bud or two. We were living large in the 70s! 

Went there with my dad too. Chili and remember the jugs full of jerky on the bar i was heaven.
