Little spotted fur to make a great night... Bobcat!!!

Well we planned to come up to NY to target bobcats for the weekend. Got up here mid day yesterday and got everything setup for the first evening hunt. Left the house at 10PM and got setup by 10:30 and by 10:45 catZilla was on the ground. We had pics all year on the farm of multiple cats but one huge male that I really wanted. Well got lucky enough that he was within ear shot of the caller and came in looking for love and my 204 gave him a kiss. I purposely bought the 204 this year for fox and bobcat to save fur and I am so glad I did. We could not even find an entrance or exit hole. He came in to about 100 yards after a good 60 yard run that I could see eyes with the lights. He posted up under a low hanging pine with his eyes glowing like saucer pans. Jumped behind the rifle and settled the crosshairs and let the 204 bark. He never took another breathe. Walked up on him and was shocked at how big he actually was. Live weight was 33lbs and perfect pelt. Good luck out there.

Great bobcat!

No hole, perhaps he died of a heart attack from the sound of the shot!

3 shots at my 1st rabbit when I was 14, and my Dad and I could not find a hole from the #6 shot anywhere as well.....To this day I believe the heart attack theory....

Congrats!

Good job on killing that fawn and turkey poult killer.  Too bad we can't hunt them in NJ yet.  They were re-introduced here in the late 70's and have gotten a good foothold.  Between the bobcats and bears we lose a lot of fawns.  We need to kill a lot more bears, coyotes and then the cats when the season opens.

a very short season, with limited permits wouldnt be so bad. bobcats are on the move in north NJ.

or a permit similar to the otter permit for trappers
