Too late for a mineral site?

I got access to a new spot in NJ.  I'm going this weekend to scout, set up a stand, some cams, etc.  Is it worth it to put a mineral site now or is it too late?  I heard even thought they stay in velvet through Aug, they stop growing at end of july/beg of Aug.  Thoughts?

It's never too late to start a site. I get deer digging the soil up in December and January trying to get the minerals that dissolved into the ground.

Deer love salt in the summer time. Throw a couple bricks out in an open area, and let them at it.

Don't forget that it helps the does as well and is not just for a bucks antler growth.   Never a bad time to set up a mineral site although they are used differently depending on time of the year.

Start it now and they will come... The bucks will hit it for a short amount of time then disappear. The Does will hit it all year long...

The bucks will be back on the mineral around March from what I experienced at my mineral site.

Worst case deer fine it late, they’ll know where to look come late winter/early spring
