How about Boys and Girls in the same picture?

I used to take my kids hunting every weekend.  My daughter was so small that even with the smallest insulated suit I could buy, she still swam in it.  We used to start out sitting in natural blinds but when I sensed they were getting bored, we used to go on the "stalk".  On this day, there was a noisy ice crust and I have no idea how we got close to this deer, but we did and they gave me the green light to shoot.

Of course, I exposed them both to as many different experiences as I possibly could:

Here are some pics of my boys over the years.

They are all great, but I absolutely LOVE the first picture

His first deer with 20g buckshot (and last).  We were in a double ladder.  Three bucks walked out of a thicket and got by before he could shoot.  They were about 70 yards away and he told me to shoot one.  At the shot, the one I hit and one other one ran straight to us.  The one I hit beneath the stand and died.  The second turned and walked broadside at the edge of a pasture.  He dropped it with one shot.  So in less than one minute, on an opener of six-day, with 15 minutes of light left, we were done.

His first with a slug gun.  Youth day year after he shot the buck pictured above.  He got a good case of scope eye.

Same double-ladder two years later youth day again
