Those are chestnut white oaks which fall annually in some numbers. I have some this year as well, but no northern red oaks or regular white oak acorns.

I should add that they are the least favored by wildlife.

Red acorns in my area from what I saw

We lost our entire crop of red oak acorns last year when zone 6 saw temps drop into the upper 20s and we got a few inches of snow on May 14 (2020). They take two years to produce a crop, and my reds are loaded with tiny acorns that will drop fall ‘22.

It’s the only species we had drop so far. Along with hickory nuts which are everywhere.

I should add that they are the least favored by wildlife. 

They seem be getting eaten by the deer

Are these red oak and pin oak acorns?

Both look like white's by the pic.  Could tell better by the leaves or tree.  Do the leaves have pointed lobes or rounded?  Pin oak trees have branches sticking out all around starting low to the ground with small sticks growing out of the trunk between branches like a pin cushion.

I couldn’t pinpoint the trees they came from. There are cedars and pines all over but couldn’t spot any oaks with acorns where I found these. I’ll look again next time. Thanks

I live in Zone 3 and there is a bumper crop this year. I have not been seeing any giant bears this year. They are usually in the swamp next to my house eating Skunk Cabbage. But why get their feet wet when they have all of the acorns they want on a dry ridge!
