So a few nights ago I hear birds going on alarm and I hear this sound I don't recognize. Two nights later I hear it again, right around dusk and put two and two together and determine its an

Eastern Screech Owl. Haven't seen him yet but I know what tree he's in. Heard the whinny and twill sounds...

Owls are one of the coolest birds!

There used to be a horse farm next to us with a few outbuildings and I guess the mice and whatever critters were plentiful in the fields surrounding them.  At night owls, I don't know what kind, used to sit in the trees along the edge of the field and watch and then select a mouse or two for dinner. They would hoot during the night and it was a wonderful sound to listen to.  The horses are gone, the fields are now mowed grass and the owls and their sounds are gone.

I thought, growing old would take longer !

I spent most of my money on shotguns and fly rods.  The rest I just wasted.
