I have an ithaca model 37smooth bore 24" IC barrel and cannot put a rifle slug on paper at 25yds. At first i thought it was my Nikon scope until i shot the gun with out the scope an wouldn't even hit a 30" target at 25 yards tried multiple manuf. slugs still the same problem. Any help will be appreciated.

Try different slugs, My old 37 only liked Breneke slugs. Couldn't it the paper with Remington

I have one from either late 50s or early 60s, it loves the older Brenekes....try Federal Tru-Ball

I shoot tight groups at 100 yards with Remington sluggers.  Ithaca 37 Deerslayer smooth bore.

Dad's old Ithaca 37 loved brenneke slugs as well

Get an H&R 20 gauge and you should be shooting a grasshopper between the eyes at 100 yards. The only drawback is you will have to change your screen name!

My suggestion would be to turn it in to the state on their next gun buy back ! Lol . She ain't a slug gun .

I had the same issue with a mossberg 500 slug gun. It use to shoot awesome, then i had someone tighten the barrel to much which actually pulled the barrel down, now it digs potatoes all day, so it sits in safe

I love my Ithaca Deerslayer for the fact it was my father's, for a smoothbore is damn accurate, but with today's advancements in slug guns, slug ammo my Ithaca will sit

What slugs have you tried?

Remington and Federal

I would say get a rifled/cantilever barrel but the cost would be the same as a gun
