You can use strips of hardware cloth with a couple of clothes pins too.

Unless I catch a beaver near the road, I rough skin them right near the catch site. It takes me around 15 minutes to skin a beaver whether I am in the field, or in my fur shed . Beaver trapping is hard enough, why make it any harder! It is a lot easier to carry out a five-pound fur than a 50-pound beaver.
