gun smith still might take awhile bc it’s hunting season but I would definitely bring it to a local gunsmith

I had them send new spring and firing pin to my FFL.  Fixed it myself, simple

I would send it back to Savage!  I just sent a rifle to Tennessee via USPS insured for $800 for $43, mailed it last Thursday and FFL got it yesterday!

I believe if you are sending a previously bought rifle to a gunsmith or manufacturer for repair you can send and receive without going through an FFL.  I would call Savage and confirm!

Jim Flynn is a great place to ship your firearm from if needed. When I was building my 308 he boxed and shipped for me a couple/few times.
