I bought my daughter a diamond when she was little. The diamond is was awesome. I don't think it goes up enough for hunting though.  Then went with an Elite Ember (when she hasn't touched or used since purchase and she started with the makeup)

 

How old is he? Mission, elite, Hoyt, all of them have middle of the road bows. The best thing is for you to visit a show and have him shoot the bows. Any good shop will help you. I don't know where you are located.

The Diamond bows are great and allow a lot of room to grow.  My son shoots the Bowtech Amplify which is also very adjustable with weight and draw length.  Congrats to your son on passing his test.
