Bear with collar

Notice most bears visiting bait have 1 or 2 ear tags and now this 1 has what looks like a collar on.

Fat bear. Like others said it looks tight on his neck. Shoot him this bear season so you can help take it off easier .. I bet that collar has been on a couple years

Chances are strong that is a she bear, not a he bear.  The Division collars females and tags and checks on them in their dens to see how many cubs, their overall health, taking DNA samples, etc.   One year we had 3 different collared bears on our bait in Sparta before one of those was killed by a car crossing Glen Road.
