sounds like you have some real scumbag customers. everytime my taxidermist calls im there within the next weekend. as for that car incident. thats totally unacceptable. i would have had an accidcent report. because it was an accident. yes you're a nice guy and you like you're customers, but someone hit yout wifes car and nothing is to be done?

My pheasant should be done next week according to the completion date on your receipt ( I understand if its not ready, good work takes time).  Make sure you call me anytime after Thursday (thats payday).  Cant wait!.

Actually I'm interested in dropping off another pheasant to get done in a different position when I come to pick up the completed one.  I got a nice cock bird with nice long tail i wouldn't mind a flying position in the other side of my living room spaced across from the completed one.

Jay, my advice as a small business owner myself is to make sure you always get a deposit and make sure the deposit covers most/all of your costs.  When they pay you the balance upon picking up their mount, that is your profit.  If they stiff you after you do the mount, at least you covered your costs or most of them.  I'm not sure what is reasonable and customary with taxidermy because I typically pay nearly all up front.

I got 1 here.. just mounted a week ago. $0 deposit. Added extras (panel and name plate )

He hit my wife's car when he dropped the deer off and has several hundred in damage. He's never coming and I know it. Doesn't answer phone calls or texts. I should have skipped over his deer but it's for his teenage son so I figured it's not his fault. If his kid ever calls me I'll probably give him the head and hopefully get paid one day . It's doing me no good sitting here in my way. I'm already out the $ and labor. My wife's car is never gonna get fixed, so at this point it's just aggrivating to look at it hanging here. I rather it gone.

No need for that    I've always tried to be a week or less for pick up, people have no respect for the job you do. Hopefully that will change for ya

That is not good, you might have to find new wording in your contracts 50% up front, 25% just prior to mount or you lose your spot and last 25% at pick up.

I have some really nice sawed off racks on my garage wall cuz they were shot during a lean year and I couldn't afford to have them mounted. I can't imagine screwing a guy for doing work for you AND to disappoint a kid who thinks their mount is coming home. Scum
