Interesting find in the woods today.

Had a couple hours between school pick up and decided to walk around a local wma with the gun just exploring. I was the only truck when I parked around noon.    Came through a wooded area and noticed a stand. As I tried to move away from the area I found numbers  nailed to the trees 1-5 and repeated in various directions.   The only thing I could think of it was used as judging distance 1 = 10 yards, 2=20, etc. and from afar it looked like they had peanut butter smeared all over trees. After 2 hours of walking around didn’t see a deer or bear that was alive (found more bears dumped ) but tons of deer sign everywhere.

Can't bait bear so must of gotten peanut butter on his hands from a sandwich and was trying to wipe it off on the trees

Interesting, never knew that. Also had various mesh bags hung from a few trees in the area. At first I thought it was maybe a drip over a scrap but didn’t look like that and there was a few. Whole thing was a lot of effort lol.

I tried this technique many years ago. A raccoon ripped it right off the tree and ran off the with jar. LOL
