stratocaster
Link is below. This winged bastard is causing havoc in PA, now VA and soon to be MD. We seem to be next. Apparently it is so bad in PA that the USDA is granting PADA millions to eradicate it. Amazing the amount of mean, nasty critters that come here from Asia. Seems impossible to keep this and other vermin out of the USA. http://www.agriculture.pa.gov/Protect/PlantIndustry/spotted_lanternfly/Pages/default.aspx

1957Buck
Alaska has the Spruce Bark Beatle in the 90s it was bad but has come back with a Vengence Areas I remember in the 60s had The most healthy Forests to now with Millions of Acres of Dead Trees if It was in size NJ think of it as Not one Live Tree. But NJ went through The Gypsy Mouth destruction and survived hopefully it will be stopped before it gets to NJ and Dies from our Pollution Had to add that part Forgot to add those trees are 100s of years old they do not regrow very fast if at all Edited February 23, 2018 by 1957Buck
MRMCR
The Asian Long Horned Beetle was a bad one in NJ ....killed a lot of Maples.....I was surprised the power the government had in eradicating this pest......they were able to enter private property at will and remove any trees they deemed infected..... No need to purposely bring them to NJ they will Hitch Hike their way and thrive if conditions are right. Like Waders with Felt Soles are bammed in some states Boats from the Great lakes are inspected for those Mussels The Snake Fish The Asian Carp Stink Bugs IMO the Russians are at the front of these Invasions
Livesintrees
A huge way even these mosquitos are getting here is stagnant water on products being shipped here. Mainly tires. Tires fills with water during rain and contains different larvae and when it gets here any more rain that collects allows it to hatch. It is insane. stratocaster
The Asian Long Horned Beetle was a bad one in NJ ....killed a lot of Maples.....I was surprised the power the government had in eradicating this pest......they were able to enter private property at will and remove any trees they deemed infected..... The only good thing about that bastard was that it couldn't fly far so it was easier to inspect all the trees in an area and the holes and sawdust it left were a clear giveaway. This invader is a lot smaller and harder to spot and thus eradicate. I assume some type of aerial spraying will be utilized to control it. More reasons to make stuff here instead of shipping it in from Asia.
