Who Will Be Baiting For Bears?

I still don't have a bear showing up at what should be an ideal spot.  I even made a "Drip Line" of bacon grease 175 yards out from my barrel heading toward the hard woods from the swamp I am set up in.  So, last night I made a Bear Bait Popcorn/Marshmallow Block.  Gonna hang it from a tree, hoping to get the scent farther out.

I made one of those blocks a few years ago....wasn't worth it

Best beer bait IMHO is beer and donuts.

 

We were brewing beer in my buddy's garage and had a bear come up behind the garage and nearly walk in.  If his dog didn't chase it away it would have been a much more interesting story.

We're sticking with simple corn and apples with some molasses tossed in at times.  Our bears found our bait barrel in less than a day and haven't left.  But that is normal for Sparta in fall.  That used to be the norm until about Thanksgiving when most bears disappeared into their dens before 6 Day.  Whole different game this October!  Our bears should be around all week long this year.

How right you are....everytime while bow hunting in October I see bears 1/2 of the times they are well within bow range

Went up to bait this morning, I knew bears will find it....those SOBs didn't leave a crumb, I'm not complaining !!!! New cam will be here by Thursday, I will have it out on Saturday

Are you guys going to run your baits from now till Dec if you do not get a bear with the bow. Or if you are running more than one bait.

So what did you tell d&d what you need the donuts for. I'm gonna do the same, but don't think telling them it's bait for bears will help. Lol

So you say your stands are 10-15 yds from stand. I'm new to the bear hunt, but I read you need to be 300ft from the bait if you're in an elevated stand. Sounds ridiculous to me

I just asked the owner/manager for old donuts that they would toss into the garbage, told him its for bear hunting.

 

The law is stupid that you cant hunt from a treestand over bait...I got a natural blow down that I'm sitting in
