Electrician opinion on recessed lighting.

What do u guys think of those led upgrades for older high hats that have the trim & bulb as a single unit?  It looks like they will significantly reduce the heat loss vs. an open can. I'm thinking about upgrading all my older high hats with them.

I temp wired one of my lights to an extension cord and held it to the ceiling see how the light was before I made the holes to help decide where the wife wanted them.

They are a great option for older cans. Most of them come with a little sealing ring as well.

👍🏼I selected the dimmer based on the manufacture of the lights suggestion of compatible dimmers.   To go back to the 3k comment being yellow, I just switched the lights I put in his closet to 4k from 3 k and I like the difference better. Much cleaner and not too much  “white” light either. 

I like the Lutron brand as they have a fade to off function. They also have a memory function that lets the light come up to a preset level.

Thanks for all the help. Went with 4 lights on 4k . Lutron dimmer is working flawlessly.
