Ausable 2 fly contest

I HIGHLY recommend anyone who enjoys fly-fishing go to the Ausable 2 fly contest. I went for many years, but had to pick & chose ....kids are young. 

  Anyway,  the 2 fly competition is as it sounds. You pick 2 Flys per day & only use those 2 (if you lose them, you are done for that day). Catch & release, honor system. Biggest fish & total inches win. Novice, amateur, & pro division.

2 fly tournaments are fun.  I fished the mass tu state event at the Deerfield pre covid 

 

was much more simpler than this.  Camping bbq beer.  Lol

I judge a One Fly contest each year and we cheat in that we allow you to choose only one pattern, but can have 3 identical flies to use.  But I also like the FUDR One Fly which raises a lot of funds for Friends of the Upper Delaware River for conservation each year.  That is a true 1 fly contest.  You dive into the river or climb a tree to retrieve your one and only fly.

Some only fish 1 fly at a time for this reason...

My presentation sucks bad enough with 1. I ain't ready for 2!!!

At the mass tu event we were allowed 2 patterns.   3 flies of each pattern so we had 6 flies.  
 

if ur euro nymphing 6 flies can go quick   I lost 9 flies in trees Saturday in pa

That’s 12 flies in 2 hrs.  Plus I think I dropped one or 2
