Real good buck

Surprised to see a real good buck on a heavily hunted hunting ground. While coming off 31 around Spruce Run last night , I saw what appeared to be a nice buck standing on the side of the road. Yup, will be a decent buck, but behind him was a really wide beautiful shooter. I guess they have learned where all the safe hiding places are during the season.

It’s amazing how a few  can still slip through the cracks in heavily hunted areas.

They hide on my mother in law's property near Spruce Run.

I've seen a few really nice bucks going into Spruce Run or hunting grounds, but it's always after shooting hours or late at night. They must have some internal clock that tells them to return to the safety of their sanctuary.

Even years ago when there was much more hunting pressure, I always felt that there were trophy bucks on public hunting grounds. A four year old deer did not get that way by running around in daylight during the gun season.
