Safe Ice for fishing this weekend?

Need a ice report? Checking to see what Lakes have safe ice this weekend. What lakes? Hopatcong,  Swartswood,  Cranberry. Spring people or were you out, how much ice? Cold in Central but nothing locked up with safe ice yet.

I drove by culver lake this afternoon and there was quite a few people out there ice fishing and snowmobiling

I think John is wondering more about the larger lakes that weren’t locked up before the snow. Culver’s lake is a good sign since it is a larger body of water.

Any report will help. I would like to try and drive up north and  fish. But when it's 1.5-2 hour drive up I like to know what lakes have safe ice.

Plenty of safe ice. Call mom & pop sporting good stores in the northern area for direction. They will be happy to help. My question would be what do you want to catch? Do you want to play it safe or swing for the fences?

Yeah there probably is but that snow will make plenty of dangerous ice too

Hopatcong at state park is safe but not best fishing IMO.  Aeroflex has good ice from what over heard.  I’m hoping to try cranberry on Monday as I’m off for Presidents’ Day.  Anyone know if anyone’s been out on the lake there and if conditions are safe?

I just like fishing and catching. Panfish are fun but I do like to catch something big. Bass and big pickerel are fun. Would be cool to catch something else like a Pike, Walleye, trout or maybe salmon. I don't keep any thing while ice fishing, just like to get out and fish and maybe hang out with a few friends.

The lake I fish (not particularly large) had 5 to 7 inches before the big storm. I fished w my kids for a short time last Saturday and even with 15 inches of snow on the ice, it was making good ice. There was at least 8 inches of ice. Probably 9 to 10 now since it was cold all week.
