Start of a great day

Love seeing the sun come up on the water .

headed out with Rocky , and Rob Friday morning to do some bottom fishing .

Started jigging sea bass , and had fish to 20”.

then as quickly as it started it became just massive schools of tiny fish everywhere .

made the switch to blackfish , very dull bite that didn’t pick up until the afternoon tide change . And of course we had to be in early for  me to get to work .

super flat seas , we covered a lot of miles .

for me running the boat at 50 , with the tunes cranked is almost as good as the fishing .

Great day just enjoying what God gives us .

 

Rob had never blackfished before and the look on his face when those fish drove back for bottom was priceless .

will post pics when Rocky sends them to me later today .

Was a beautiful day out there. We had to pick though a lot of small seabass to keep the ones we did. Blackfish fishing was pretty good but nothing big but they are fighting great on the spinning tackle and jigs.

I like using my lighter fluke bucktail rod with a low profile reel .

can touch the line and not have it cut you like when lifting on a big tog with the spinner .

and I think it’s just more sensitive feeling the pick ups .

drops faster straight to the bottom without having to pay the line off like on a spinner
