Just to be clear, these funds can only be applied for by non-profits (think a Trout Unlimited) or a government agency (think towns) to then hire a firm like mine to do river restoration. Since applications for this grant aren't due until late September, my guess is I will be talking to some folks about potential projects and working up cost proposals for same in coming months. It's great to see NJ finally put out a grant for river restoration using these funds! Love to see them dredge all of shark river . shame they destroyed the entire fishery that was there for hundreds of years by piping all the parking lots from all the malls to enter it . silt there has filled in 95% of the river . a good dredge of the entire river would give it another 100 years . . I think they are actually going to dump the Paulinskill silt there. JHbowhunter

Wouldn’t surprise me on bit . river is full of parking lot dust , when they dry the channel dredging looks like stone dust . was a winter flounder spawning area for hundreds of years . shame a whole eco system can be ruined and yet so far off the radar for repair . screw beach replenishment for just one mile and take it from there Captain Dan Bias REELMUSIC SPORTFISHING 50# Striper live release club. http://reelmusicsportfishing.blogspot.com/
BowhunterNJ
@hammer4reel can you explain the piping of parking lots into Shark River? What the heck happened there and how was whatever happened permitted? I do remember exceptional flounder fishing there many years ago.
hammer4reel
All the street water drainage was piped into the back of the river . every time it rains , the dust from all the parking lots as well as particals from the pavement end up in the river . since it’s 95% filled in it doesn’t have the flushing aspect it used to have . its actually a dangerous spot now for most watercraft at mid to low mean tide .
