That is the trouble with traveling those distances to hunt. You never know what the weather is going to throw you.  The other night I talked to some guys who went out last week and experienced the same heat. Timing is everything. Still have my Ohio tag. I could do what I did last year and go sit that stand I hung in Ohio that my buddy just killed that 161" buck out of week of shotgun. I would miss the NJ 6-day though. Tough call. LoL

Same thing in Illinois. Saw a 120" buck and some smaller ones. TOO HOT. Seemed like there was better movement the week before getting there. 2 weeks behind or so there as well. Glad you made it back safe
