Avils appear to a hot item to have. What could be bought for scrape rates is now 3 to 5 dollars a pound. Once they end up on craigs list they cost to much.

new anvils are made out of cheap recycled steel that can chip and crack, thats why older anivils bring more money. the old steel is much better and safer.

Found two at Grainger.  Never knew these things were that expensive.
