 Nice fish box.

Going salmon fishing Columbus Day weekend and stay on the Black River.

Fisher it 30 years ago, loaded with smallmouth, but that was August

I haven't fished on Lake Ontario in a couple years, used to do the spring and fall LOC derbies, but it looks like for 2022/23 the fall salmon size are down about 3-5lbs on average compared to 2021, and 4-9lbs if you go back to 2010.

Hopefully it's just a 1-2yr dip in size, and not the new norm.

This is the smallest average I have ever seen. Seems 10 lb was average. Though, know of a 31 lb caught Friday. Our biggest was 14 lb, but lost a decent one. Fished morning & afternoon Saturday. Hopefully get some bigger fish in the river.

That happened to us before. Got into a younger age class school of fish. Bigger fish are somewhere else.

If your fishing near the spawning river mouths and seeing smaller fish it's possible the really big kings are still a little to the southwest and moving towards those rivers.

It could also be possible you're hitting a 2-3 yr 9ld class and not the big 3-4 yr olds like @Nomad said.

Still those salmon at any size are a blast to catch!!
