Locked up bird

I know there's not one solution fits all...but what  kind of calling sequence do you like to use if you get a gobbler locked up and not making that final walk in to range?

I like to use single putts, like a lost bird.  I have a cheap slate that makes a great sound.  I'm far from an expert so hopefully others will chime in.  Switch calls to, sometimes that works.

Is he henned up? Or is he just hung up?.  Are you hunting alone or with someone?  If your with some one and they or you can sneak further away and keep calling sometimes that will bring the bird in twords the shooter.

Also you could try acting like 2 hens getting into a scuffle might pull him the extra yards to see what's going on

I tried the two hens trick w/slate and mouth call. I'm assuming he henned up because I estimate he came from 100yds to 60yds and went quiet at 6:30. I'm hunting alone.

Don't know the Terrain your hunting but I'd say a move may help  he didn't want to go there!You have 3 hrs,she's gonna lay on her eggs,Git in the woods.Yelp once and watch.Good luck.

Probably henned up.  Sit tight and see if he doesn't come back to life at 10 or so.

If hes henned up, challenge the lead hen and pull her in

if hes just hung up, location may be the issue.  Circle him and start over where he came from

or leave the woods and come back at 11am when hooefully his hens are nesting

do not just keep hammering a bird that does not want to come in

He could have a hen and she took him away or he came the last bit and saw you or never seen the hen that was making all the yelping. Try not calling for a hour or so. Wait him out. he heard and knows right where you are so he may come back silently.. Try to just scratch in the leaves like a bird feeding. I killed my share that way.
