Cool.  I used to take my labs along, but only have miniature dachshunds now.  We wouldn't get 100 yards with them along unless I put them in the jet sled.

You do not need a dog to protect you just wear bells.

We're not really worried about bears.  We just like to let him run loose and scare the crap out of people.

Oh who am I kidding... I'm fat, out of shape, and couldn't walk that many miles if I tried.  LOL
