Horner's syndrome

Recommended Posts

My dog has it, came on last night, took him to the vet, they say it's partial horners syndrome, since his eye is not involved, but as of right now, the left side of his face is paralyzed, they checked for an underlying cause but didn't find anything that could cause it. They did say that it can just show up, and that most cases will go away on their own. I feel bad for him, he don't know what going on and I can see his confusion as he walks around, he can't feel the left side of his face.

Now I need to help him eat by elevating his food bowl so his left upper lip doesn't get in his way.

Recovery time is anywhere from a few weeks, to a few months, just gotta keep an eye on it and let it run its corse.

Been reading up on it, should clear up in 4-8 weeks, doesn't hurt and it doesn't affect his vision. So he's not in pain, just weirded out because he can't feel it.

Sad stuff! Will he recover?

Is that syndrome like bell palsy? Did vet check for Lyme Disease.

kinda, he just had some blood work done for another but unrelated issue, blood came back normal. They checked him over for an underlying issue and didn't find anything, a bit more than half of these issues just happen for no apparent reason and most cases go away in about 4-8 weeks, sometimes a bit longer.

Its tough with the dogs because they cant tell you what they are feeling. My vet just did blood work and found that my dog was exposed to erlichia so now every time she takes a nap or twitches in her sleep i get nervous. Hope your guy gets better soon.

My son in laws dog just had blood work and tested positive for erlichia. Dam ticks! She has no symptoms, so vet said, no treatment necessary. It's the springer on left.

This is somthing else, he doesn't have a blink reflex in his left eye now, and when he alerts his left ear droops, and now when I just took him out he's stumbling at his rear end and over all he feels warm, so we are going back to the vet and I'm going to have a thorough work up done.
