Release Aid....Which One Do You Use?

I love the trufire caliper foldback release so much I bought a backup.  The one I am using is about 7 years old, bought the replacement last year just in case...  It's almost identical to the one you posted except for the single hook versus caliper.  The backup is ALWAYS in the hunting backpack... period. end. stop.

Speaking of release aids, when my son first started shooting the compound 2 years ago, I started him with a trigger release close to the style of a little goose caliper....Every so often a couple shots go high or low and was thinking would a better release make a difference in his groups.....Every time I bring it up he wishes to stay with what he is comfortable with....Still looking at options..

Use to shoot tru-fire hard core.  A few years ago I went to a Scott 3 finger thumb release and I'll never go back.

Same here, but shooting a Carter Too Simple. Hook it on the D loop, always a consistent anchor and shoots great when pulling thru the shot. Another reason I went to a thumb release was, nothing on my wrist when rattling or with gloves on. Some of the farms I hunt in the Midwest when you rattle, bucks come in pretty quick, so no more fumbling around rotating the wrist strap release back around to center and trying to grab the bow at the same time. I really believe once you know how to shoot one, you're more accurate.

I started with an index release(a couple years ago I settled on the truball short n sweet swept model) but recently switched over to the Scott exxus thumb release and Scott longhorn 3 hinge. That is probably the most noticeable upgrade I have done, or noticed such vast improvement related to archery. I consider it more noticeable than switching from my 17 year old Hoyt magnatec to a 2016 Xpedition bow(which is obviously a huge upgrade as well). The anchor point is naturally more consistent for me...its rock solid. Not that I couldn't maintain form before but when I'm in a tree 20-30' up and bending at the waist, the release just stays put wherever and however I move. For me, it wasn't as natural with the index releases and would find myself re-anchoring or questioning my anchor sometimes. You need confidence in whatever you use and that's another reason why it was such an impt. upgrade for me to switch over to thumb/hinge styles.
