1,000 Bears? - Day 6 Update

Just heard a Muzzy bark in Hope, warren county. So someone just got one.

I hope it ends today for the rest of the year..so 6 day can go back to 6 day for deer only..now we just need doe days in some zones to go away for 6 day too. Lol

Wow zone 1 is lower than 2&3 zone 1 always first to sell out I live in 2. And know we have a ton of bears as well as west Milford area zone 3 just surprised 1 is the highest with all the permits good luck to anyone out today

Can't believe zone 1 is falling short....I guess the population there is finally being reduced or guys are hunting elsewhere expecting that area to be packed.

If the current ratio of tagged to untagged bears stays consistent in December then 200 bears will put us at the 30% mark.  

 

Shotgun hunters, you get to shoot 200 more bears.

They updated the harvest report this morning....75 for Friday for a total of 562 bears....no additional tagged bears so the tagged percentage remains at 22.3%....Figure the December season will at least have the Monday opening day, and maybe Tuesday as a day 2. But I'm relatively certain, that'll be all. figuring on 200 bears for the opener...It'll be nearly 800 total for the year....not bad....

 

I'm certain that the lower harvest was a result of guys being extremely selective in what they took. Nearly everyone I know who hunted passed on sows with cubs, and a lot of guys were looking for Mr. Big (300#'s +) and passed on the smaller 150# bears....
