Coyotes left no part of him except head and legs.  I would guess this deer died in late October.

G2's are probably 10-12" long.

Maggots would have had the skull down to bone if it died back then.  Coyotes can do a number on them in no time, hides be black in a couple weeks if anything is left

On top of the grass, there was half a pelvic bone, clean and a small portion of ribs, also clean to the bone.  You can see in the picture the ears were gone, I'm sticking with my estimate of late October, maybe early November.

Could be.  Grasses could have laid down earlier with all the rain we had.  I don't really remember when this year but It's usually tough to get through that stuff until later in bow season.  I've seen dead deer and bear get to that stage in just a few weeks
