Not sure where this leaves NJ as far as FID and purchase permits etc. I dont see it changing . The carry requirements are going to stand as well in my belief

Not a chance once through Scotus. Bruen will have these rules reversed over time.

Nothing will be happening with the FOID and handgun permits anytime soon. Currently the fight is over the "sensitive places", insurance requirement, $50 victims fund fee, and carry laws in Chapter 131. Unless another states FOID complaint goes to SCOTUS. The Maryland permit law will probably go En Banc before the fourth circuit which is more liberal.

Once all of the sensitive places, suits are done next up would be FOID cards etc, etc. Cheeseman's lawsuit involves "assualt weapons" and there's another one on the magazine ban.

I agree with Hostak, I think they’ll at least attempt to knock it down en banc. While I don’t believe any of it will withstand Bruen, there are two issues, getting it to SCOTUS while Thomas and Alito are still on the bench, and states constantly coming up with new ways to try to achieve the same objectives by different means. The reality is they contravene the Court all the time but the executive branch is tasked with enforcing the law. With Biden directing the DOJ there is no chance we get to hold them accountable.

There's a couple of anvenue's SCOTUS will go. Either they grant Writ of Certiorari and will hear the case in the next session (sept 2024 earliest), or Chief Justice Roberts who oversees the Fourth Circuit will remand the case back to the Fourth to be retried or the Fourth will send it back to lower courts making the waiting game that much longer for Maryland residents.

Look at California for example, It's been a revolving door with Judge Benitez and the Ninth Circuit. That one is going no where.
