“Odd bird”for December

A single hen woodie today - I was very surprised to see her this late in the year. Love how nice even the hen plumage looks on woodies

I been hearing tons of woodies when I hunt my swamp stand, really hasn’t stayed cold long enough to make them leave

I had woodies year round at my old place. They used to fly right over my deer stands.

There was a pond they would always be at early season, and then they'd move to the creek. When it got really cold and even the creek froze, there was a spot that would stay flowing that they'd always be on. I liked hearing and seeing them fly off their roosts and vice versa while sitting in my deer stands in the low light.
