I was hoping you saw and responded to this post..  Reading the info you posted it doesnt seem like they are to damaging. I just planted a bunch of Arborvitaes not far from where I see them and was worried about them damaging them.

You wouldn’t say that if you have lots of box elder trees on your property. They can kill a lot of them which is an important riparian tree along NJ streams and rivers. But your arborvitae will be fine. It’s the deer that think of arborvitae as candy.
