Freshwater Clams-good eating?

Found these by the pond recently-I've never seen freshwater clams this big?  The ones I'm used to seeing are about the size of a thumbnail.  Are they good eating?  All we found were shells-guessing they were the leftovers of some animal's feast.  The shells are much more brittle than saltwater clams I'm guessing due to mineral content difference.

it is to my knowledge that you cant harvest freshwater clams.

but you would be surprised what your body could digest without getting sick...

just dont eat bats.

Forget the reg but Asian community wud poach freshwater clams in millstone river in Rocky Hill and put em in 5 gallon pails labeled Soy sauce
